2001 Jerusalem
Mrs.Gila Katzav, the First Lady of the State of Israel, greeted
Chaviva Tzachor and other members of the Neve Avraham staff, at the
President's Residence (Mishkan HaNassi). Joining Chaviva in this
visit were Nachman Jacobowitz, Director of Development, Mina Guveri,
Chaviva's assistant and office manager, and Elaine Pomrantz, a
leading member of Neve Avraham's Board of Directors.
Chaviva
delineated the primary activities of the Child Development Treatment
Center on behalf of the region's special needs children, and
described the great need of the Center for material and moral
support in order to continue to provide vital therapeutic services
on the highest professional standards. She presented Mrs. Katzav
with an attractive folder containing comprehensive information about
the Center. The First Lady was particularly impressed by letters to
her from parents who expressed their appreciation for the successful
treatment of their children, and admiration for Chaviva's unlimited
devotion and love which make all this possible. The meeting took
place in an atmoshere of remarkable rapport and warm friendship,
which were underscored by the fact that the brief allotted time
lasted an hour and fifteen minutes! Mrs. Katzav gladly accepted an
invitation to visit the Center early in the upcoming school year and
has agreed, in principal, to grace Neve Avraham with her presence at
future events organized by the Center. Practical suggestions for
advancing the goals of the Center were also discussed.
Ziona
Rosenthal, Mrs. Katzav's talented personal assistant, was most
instrumental at the meeting and deserves special mention for her
warmth and friendship, as well as her goal-oriented advice and
assistance. During the summer vacation, b'ezrat Hashem, a group of
parents, children, and staff from the Center will pay a visit at the
President's Residence, with a special tour organized by Ziona that
will include a brief meeting with the First Lady.
There is
no question that this wonderful new relationship with Mrs. Katzav is
most meaningful to the Center and lends much honor and credibility
to this most important cause. Special thanks to our dear friend,
Martin Davidson, for making this happen, and to Mr. Moshe Goral,
Director-General of the Presidents's Residence.
